ABOUT STEWARDSHIP
Cooperative value
Cooperatives are owned and governed by members who use its products, supplies, or services and operate in many sectors of the economy. In a cooperative system, people come together to scale buying power, gain access to goods and services and create economic opportunity.
Careers
At CHS, our teams work together to provide the products, services and expertise farmers and cooperatives need to feed a growing population. As a CHS employee, you help empower agriculture by creating connections that bring shared success.
The power of partnership
The CHS Foundation recently hosted Agriculture Future of America (AFA), an ag-focused organization that provides leadership and career development training for college students. AFA’s student advisory team visited the CHS Inver Grove Heights office for a leadership training and heard from CHS president and CEO Jay Debertin, CHS Foundation president Nanci Lilja and Camille Abrams, senior vice president, CHS Finance and AFA board member.
“We are happy to support the efforts of AFA, whether that’s through funding, helping source board members or providing meeting space,” says Nanci Lilja, CHS Foundation president. “The CHS Foundation and AFA share the same goal: to make high-impact programming available to educate and prepare the next generation of agricultural leaders.”
Preparing strong leaders for the future is a goal shared by other CHS Foundation partners that AFA works with. AFA is active at the majority of the universities where the CHS Foundation supports scholarships.
“Bringing these connections full-circle and supporting and building on each other’s efforts magnifies what each organization can achieve on their own,” says Traci Via, director of development at AFA. “Together, we are building transformational leaders who are passionate about food and agriculture.”
The CHS Foundation is a major supporter of AFA and its programs, including the AFA Leaders Fellowship and Campus Ambassador programs, and provides scholarships to students invited to attend the annual AFA Leaders Conference.
