2020 CHS Annual Meeting To Be Virtual Event on Dec. 3

The 2020 CHS Annual Meeting will be held virtually on Dec. 3, 2020. An abbreviated agenda will focus on governance and include reports from the Board and management, a financial update and a member interaction session. 

“With concerns for the health and safety of our owners and CHS staff, a virtual meeting with access via a live webcast is the best approach for our 2020 annual meeting,” says Dan Schurr, chair, CHS Board of Directors. “While we appreciate the opportunity to have face-to-face conversations with our owners each year at the annual meeting, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic makes large-scale in-person meetings risky and impractical. 

“The successful virtual CHS Owners Forum in June indicates CHS owners appreciate being able to gain company updates and ask questions through an online environment. We anticipate eliminating time and costs related to traveling to the annual meeting may allow more owners to participate,” Schurr adds, “and we hope to be able to meet in person again for the 2021 annual meeting.” 

Caucuses will be held for the sole purpose of electing directors: 

  • Regions 1, 3, 5, 7 and 8 will convene virtual caucuses. Voting will be accomplished by online ballot. 
  • Regions 4 and 6 will have no director elections in 2020; therefore, no caucuses will be held for those regions.
  • The Region 2 caucus will be held in person at the Mansfield Convention Center in Great Falls, Mont., from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Mountain Standard Time, to facilitate the four-candidate director election. All COVID-19 safety precautions will be followed. Delegates may participate in the caucus virtually (with online balloting only) or in person. In-person participants will be able to view the annual meeting general session from the site in Great Falls. Registration of in-person participants will begin at 8:00 a.m. Mountain Standard Time. 

Registration for the annual meeting will open Oct. 14, 2020. Materials will be sent to all voting eligible members in early October. Watch for additional information as it is available at chsannualmeeting.com

Due to the virtual nature of the 2020 annual meeting, the CHS Board has chosen to delay voting on proposed “clean-up” amendments to the CHS Articles of Incorporation and CHS Bylaws until 2021. Information on the proposed amendments is available at chsinc.com/amendments
