Corporate Governance

The CHS Board of Directors reflects our owners, our company and our values. All members of the CHS Board of Directors must be full-time farmers or ranchers and are elected by the member cooperatives and individuals in a particular region. Once elected, the CHS Board members represent the interests of all CHS member-owners.

There are 17 CHS Directors representing the eight regions of the CHS membership. The number of farmers, ranchers and cooperatives, and business volume in each region determine the number of directors representing the area. The CHS Board of Directors regularly revisits board representation to ensure fair and equitable distribution of the 17 CHS Director positions.

Owners are encouraged to get involved with cooperative leadership at the local or regional level. If you are an owner interested in leading, please contact a CHS Director. To learn more about why our current CHS Directors chose to serve, watch the CHS Director videos.
