Everyone loves a good story. The CHS story started nearly nine decades ago when a few farmers got together to create one of the first farmer-owned cooperatives in the country. Their goal was simple: to help area farmers be more successful. And while our name has changed a few times since 1929, our mission to help farmers grow remains unchanged.
A great deal has transpired since those early years. Farming operations have grown and become more diverse and sophisticated. The cooperative system and CHS businesses have done the same.
Over the years, we have experienced a range of market conditions, including times of strong markets when we felt the wind at our backs, and challenging times, like today’s sluggish energy and ag markets, when we needed to tighten our belts and work smarter and harder.
In times like these, we know you need a partner you can count on. CHS wants to be that partner.

I want to thank those of you who attended the 2017 CHS Annual Meeting and shared your insights and ideas. I look forward to continuing to hear from you in the year ahead.
We’ve got much to do in the next year. We’re excited about what the future has in store and are committed to supporting rural America and the farmers and cooperatives that call it home.
The story has yet to be written for 2018, but we look forward to partnering with you to make it a productive and profitable year.
