The facility is expected to process 80 million bushels of soybeans annually, producing approximately 1 billion pounds of soybean oil and 2 million tons of soybean meal. The project will expand domestic processing capacity, create additional market opportunities for farmers and help meet growing demand across food, feed and renewable fuel markets.
“Today marks an important investment in the future of agriculture,” said CHS President and CEO Jay Debertin. “This facility will provide farmers with another reliable market for their soybeans while strengthening domestic supply chains and supporting growing demand for U.S.-produced agricultural products.”
In his remarks, Debertin noted that investments of this magnitude require a policy environment that brings strong markets and long-term demand.
“American farmers produce the highest-quality crops in the world, and they deserve strong domestic processing capacity and reliable markets for what they grow,” said USDA Deputy Secretary Stephen Vaden. “The CHS project joins a growing list of investments that helps demonstrate this Administration’s strong support for biofuels. With the capacity to process 80 million bushels of soybeans each year, this facility will come online at a pivotal time as President Trump expands opportunities and opens new markets both at home and abroad for U.S. soybean farmers.”
When operational, the facility is expected to support approximately 80 full-time jobs and create hundreds of construction and skilled trade positions during development.
“Wisconsin’s agriculture and food processing sectors are an essential part of our state’s past and present, and they will continue to be a critical part of our workforce and economy moving forward,” said Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers. “This is a huge deal, and one that’s long overdue. Joining the growing network of CHS processing facilities, this $700 million project is a boon for local folks and families in Evansville, as well as farmers across the region, and we are thrilled to celebrate this ceremonial groundbreaking today.”
As part of the event, CHS also announced $50,000 in Evansville community investments, including support for the CARE Closet Program and the Evansville High School agriculture program, reflecting the cooperative’s commitment to the communities where it operates.
Project development activities are underway, with construction expected to begin following completion of required permitting processes.
