The 2022 CHS Annual Meeting on Dec. 1-2 welcomed over 1,400 owners and partners to the Minneapolis (Minn.) Convention Center and virtually through a livestream of several events.

With its theme of Connect. Grow. Thrive., the meeting gave company leaders an opportunity to thank CHS owners for helping the company achieve record results in fiscal year 2022.

“We accomplished this together – every owner, every employee, every customer made this an exceptional year,” said Dan Schurr, CHS Board chair. “This is how the cooperative system is supposed to work. As individual owners, we multiply our buying power. By working together, we can take full advantage of market opportunities.”

“I want to express my sincere thanks for your business and for your commitment to the cooperative system,” said Olivia Nelligan, executive vice president, chief financial officer and chief strategy officer. “Together, we’re building a strong and sustainable CHS for the future – one that’s positioned to continue delivering value for generations to come.

“We didn’t do it alone,” said Jay Debertin, president and CEO, in his management report. “Together we are positioning ourselves for the opportunities of tomorrow. The challenges are great. But the opportunities in agriculture for us together are tremendous.”

In this video clip, Nelligan and Debertin share their perspective about the importance of the CHS Annual Meeting, what they appreciate about it and what they hope owners gained from it.

Other highlights of this year’s meeting included education sessions, governance activities, an interactive exhibit celebrating the CHS Foundation’s 75th anniversary and a chance to see firsthand how CHS is combining autonomous drone technologies with analytics and machine learning. Attendees also had an opportunity to give back by packing care kits for Ukrainian refugees.

On Nov. 30, CHS hosted more than 50 attendees from 11 states for the 2022 CHS New Leaders Forum. Young farmers and ranchers are nominated by their cooperatives to participate in the annual event, where they learn about the cooperative model, develop their leadership skills and discover how they can advocate for agriculture and cooperatives.

This year’s CHS New Leaders Forum featured sessions on the cooperative system, grain marketing, ag advocacy, financial analysis, managing stress and building trust. Many attendees also stayed in Minneapolis to participate in the 2022 CHS Annual Meeting.
